Does anyone know a website that teaches the basic and more advanced syntax of programming? I would like to learn C++ and BASIC, and I need someplace to start. I have found tons of websites that teach specifics of the languages, assuming that I already know the basic syntax. I just need the basics of programming
Can anyone help me learn to programm video games?
There are free places online and you can download eBooks for learning programming. C++ is possibly the most common language, but Basic is better to start with, as it is easier to learn, and will make learning C++ easier. It might be easier to buy a book though.
Reply:Best bet: go buy a book on it. That's what I do everytime I want to learn something with computers.
Reply:Try this site there may be something there to help.
Reply:depends if u've ever programmed before...
if you've not done C++ before.. might be an idea to start with C first..
as for basic, a lot of people use blitz basic...
normal programming first, then progress on to spefically gaming.. simple things like a bat/ball game are always good..
there are specific libraries esp. created for making games..

is a nice one .. its like anything, depends how much time you wanna spend on it, will depend how much you get back out..
i will say don't expect to be making the next FPS game straight away, it's all building blocks.
Reply:I've heard Java is a fast growing language, although I'm not sure what they use in the video game industry. I program for mobile devices (specifically the Danger Hiptop), which use Java. As for any programming, start with Basic or C. I started with C, and it gave me the foundation I needed for other languages.
