Reply:for a clear explanation try this : http://www.lantalk.net/net-send-command/
Reply:make sure that alerter and messager services are on automatic mode and running.

to know if they are operational,

Start%26gt;control panel%26gt;adminstrative tools%26gt;service

Right click %26amp; make suitable changes in property

The command will work.

why don't you try winchat for two way communication ?
Reply:You can use it like this:

net send currency "this is the test message"

at the command line. But remember that the messenger service has to be up and running in the machine that's going to receive the message, or else you'll get the "The message alias could not be found on the network." error.

The messenger service (not related to Windows Messenger or Windows Live Messenger, by the way) is disabled by default on Windows XP SP1 and above I think, so you have to enable it manually.

To enable the messenger service (which is not recommended for security reasons) you can go to the services MMC console. Just use the Start Menu, Run, and type services.msc then press Enter.

In the services console find the one named "Messenger", and double click it, then in startup type select either automatic or manual (the first one makes it run on every system boot, the second one means that you have to start it yourself) and then press the button Start that's right below.

For more information on why the messenger service should be disabled, you can check this page: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using...

For more information on the net send command, check this one out: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/docum...

Hope that helps! :)
